‘Sisters and Spinsters – The Misses Swann of Elizabeth Farm’ was an installation exhibition at Elizabeth Farm, an historic house in Rosehill NSW.
Fiona Davies and I created installations that told the stories of the 9 Swann Sisters, 8 of who were spinsters, whose family had saved the house from demolition in 1904.
My stories were told through the use of domestic items such as tablecloths and table napkins hung on a Hills Hoist clothes line, in a similar position as the one when the sisters were in residence. Information was overlayed onto images of D’oilies which were ironed onto the fabric.
